No, they don’t - our design philosophy is to build fantastic-looking houses that blend in with the local aesthetics. However, inside and out, they are designed to save you energy and money.
All our homes are unique and their eco-features are tailored to different needs and budgets, but our principles are always the same:
Keeping the heat in
The best way to reduce energy bills is to reduce heat loss in winter - this is why we want every one of our homes to benefit from great insulation and building techniques, so they can keep the heat in, and stay warm and cozy all day long. This has benefits in summer too - reducing the conductivity of the walls and windows means that your home will stay cooler on a hot day.
Energy-efficiency
Using lots of electricity damages the environment as well as your bank balance - that’s why we make every effort to choose appliances, heating and hot water systems that use as little electricity as possible - and it really adds up.
Recycling
This doesn‘t just mean your cardboard and cans (although we hope you’ll use our bins to recycle these) - we can integrate systems to recycle hot air and water, significantly reducing your bills.
Free energy
To cover unavoidable electricity and heating requirements, you have the option to generate your own renewable energy. We can offer a range of technologies, designed to power your home sustainably and protect you from rising energy prices. Solar thermal panels, for example, can heat 60% of your domestic hot water, Solar PV panels can generate electricity and ’heat pumps’ can provide heating and hot water, using natural resources on the site itself.
The bigger picture
Beyond energy use, we also take the wider environmental impacts of our sites seriously, from the ecology of the grounds to the sustainable sourcing of building materials. We want to work with our homeowners to help them make the most of their eco-home’s potential, so you will receive an info pack explaining all the eco-features of your new home, and how you can continue to reduce your environmental impact in day-to-day life.
